David H. Falagán is an architect (ETSAVa, 2002) and holds a PhD in Theory and History of Architecture (UPC, 2016), a Master’s degree in the Housing Laboratory of the 21st Century (ETSAB, 2007), and a Master’s degree in Theory and History of Architecture (ETSAB, 2009). He teaches in the Department of Theory and History of Architecture at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Previously, he was a lecturer and research coordinator at Escola Massana – Centre d'Arts i Disseny (Barcelona, 2013–2020). His main research interests include housing, architectural rehabilitation, and critical design methodologies. He has extensive experience in the promotion and coordination of cultural and informational projects related to architecture across different media and formats.

David is the author of the books Construcción Social de la Vivienda (Ed. Funcoal, 2011); Tools for Inhabiting the Present. The House of the 21st Century (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, 2011, co-authored with Josep Maria Montaner and Zaida Muxí); Innovation in Affordable Housing. Barcelona 2015–2018 (Ajuntament de Barcelona, 2019); Innovación tecnológica en la arquitectura de Tous y Fargas (Editorial CSIC, 2020); La revolució de l'habitatge a les perifèries obreres i populars. Nou Barris 1939–1980 (MUHBA, 2021, with J. L. Oyón, M. Guàrdia, and M. Rosselló); Arquilecturas. He is the chief editor of the digital magazine Arquilecturas (www.arquilecturas.com) and has directed the documentary films Pigneto (Italy, 2024) and De profesión, arquitectos (Spain, 2012). He was also the editor and translator of Cedric Price: An Architecture of Approximation (Puente Editores, 2022).

For his theoretical work, he has been awarded the AJAC Prize of the Young Architects’ Association of Catalonia three times (2006, 2008, and 2014). He has also received awards at the Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (2010, 2012, and 2019), the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (2018, 2021, and 2023), and has been shortlisted for the FAD Awards for Thought and Criticism (2022). His projects have also received recognition in international competitions such as Europan (2010) and RIUSO – Sustainable Urban Regeneration (2013 and 2018).

David is co-director of the Barcelona Chair of Housing Studies, a member of the Qurbis research group, and principal investigator of the research project Periferia. He has been a fellow of the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (2022–23) and a Fulbright researcher at New York University (2024–25).
